Their extended warranty is free however (bit like John Lewis) so why wouldn't you want it?

Well it is and it isn't. The the salesman explained that you get the money back after three years if you don't claim, then conspiratorially explained "how it works is they rely on you claiming the money back in a 4 week window, and people forget". "Ooh that is actually quite a good deal" so I went for it. And did I remember to claim the refund, keeping all the receipts? No, of course I bloody didn't. Well played Mr Salesman, well played Sir

Can't remember which one but I once stayed in a hotel that had a bucket of ice on the room service menu for £20. There were ice machines on alternating floors! I actually called room service to see if it came with a bottle of wine in it or perhaps you kept the bucket. No, it was just a plastic bucket of ice.

Was it in the middle of the desert or something

Don't think they do it that way any more, it's just a normal warranty in case of issue. Was that a while ago?

That's still the proposition if you buy a product that doesn't have an extended warranty included .

I like proper British made Turkish Delight. I can't say the same about that covered in white powder and smelling of flowers muck they make and sell in shoot holes like Turkey! 🧐

They sell the same stuff in Greece (and I much prefer it to the British version - you can't put chocolate around that flavour). Of course in Greece they wouldn't dream of calling anything "Turkish Delight", it is Loukoumi there.

Ditto.

My Instinct 1 cost £130 in a sale a few years ago. Does everything I need (and more) and is very reliable.

Plus, if it gets bashed I won't cry.

Had my fair share of Omega, Rolex, Breitling over the years and fretting about them getting scratched, etc.

I would not take a £1k plus Garmin up on a rocky mountain Crag...

Whilst I agree……… if you are doing a long race, you need the later garmins battery life
