im currently away from my bike so toatally unsure.

Looking at upgrading my standard groupset on my willier montegrappa. Looking at 105. Someone is selling 10spd 105 5700 shifters and rear derailleur. I've got 2x9 set up.

Now is this a straight swap? Any help much appreciated

Depends on your wheel.

What spec is the bike, what year even? Post a link if not the specs. What groupset? Sora?

Presumably you'd need a new cassette, chain and cables too

Should be OK presuming yours has the Sora groupset. I've got a 2015 Montegrappa which is running Ultegra 6700 without any issues. Mind you I've got the Veltec Speed wheelset.

The frame is crying out for a better groupset and wheels.

Note that the Sora groupset has an external cable so you'll have to change / re-wrap your bar tape with both cables going under it.

It's pretty straightforward, although for an extra cog I'm not sure I'd bother.
10 speed chains and cassettes cost more and don't last as long IME.

For a Wilier frame, 105 is a decent upgrade from Sora and the OP gets under tape cable runs as well. (I'm quite content on Tiagra 9 speed, however.)
@DCLane has mentioned wheels (got a date for that 600 yet DC?) I'd consider upgrading the wheels first.
As @vickster has said, take care to factor all the other bits into the value for money calculation (cassette, chain, bar tape, cables (probably)).
