Wince wince wince wince... a friend did similar with his hand and needed quick surgery thing, but that involved a drill bit...

is now peering at gloves, I never wear gloves - should I panic buy gloves for everyone?

OH has come off his bike tonight. We've been in A&E all evening and have just got home.

He's got to return in the morning to go to theatre to have this sewn up:

He was apparently bunny hopping up a kerb, lost his balance, put his hand out and landed hand first onto some kind of low fence. He wasn't wearing gloves, but says he will do in future!

Just wondering, would gloves have made that much difference?

When I was a little kid, on roller skates, I tripped and fell against a picket fence landing on the bit where one of the uprights was missing. I impaled my hand on the rusty nail that was sticking out.

A bit fed up and a bit sore!
The surgery was quite intricate, and he had veins, arteries and nerves repaired. His hand has been bandaged into a fixed position to prevent him damaging the nerve repair work so we've all got to be careful not to bump the bandage! Obviously got a bit of a worrying time ahead waiting to see if the nerves recover properly. He really needs that hand to work properly to do his job.
A few of my colleagues have commented that I now have a convenient stay at home child/dog carer available during the summer school holidays! I deny all allegations that I shoved him off for this very purpose!

Well, it's worrying, but could've been worse. Mind you, he'll be getting a funny suntan line, hadn't factored that in!
