The occupational health chap said there's help available such as food preparation, help with bathing and small amounts of shopping if I want it. I might be going to that step down house yet. I'll see what they suggest in the morning.
How long were you in hospital for? I remember it being quite a while. Have you made a full recovery? If it's like our area, a step down place might be a care home. I'd get 'home'. With regards to 'help' I got nothing when I came out with my broken spine, so be prepared to manage with help from family. You need to be up and moving in accordance with doctors orders.
That's a load of cr@p about getting someone to take you in a car, my wife's auntie done her hip a couple of weeks ago and got her husband to take her to the hozzy, where the staff went berserk saying no way should she have travelled in by car. Anyway hope you get well soon AccyI dialled 999. They asked me if the bone was sticking out through the flesh, was the leg bleeding or did the leg feel cold. When I said no to either they said it wasn't that urgent so the ambulance could take up to 4 hours. They suggested either a relative took me or I could get a taxi.![]()

Recovery wise, it's going OK. Still get back trouble but that's to be expected. I did too much bending and lifting yesterday am.
He would have been in for longer but I kept visiting! I can confirm he is recovering well and putting on weight nicelyHow long were you in hospital for? I remember it being quite a while. Have you made a full recovery?
Oh crikey. Get well soon Accy.Yes,I'll be glad when the years out. I was thinking about going back to work soon. I now have 4 pins and 2 screws holding my leg together. They're discharging me tomorrow. Probably to a "half way house" as they don't think I'll be safe at home.
Have you access to a swimming pool? Low impact exercises such as these, may be of help:

Yes I do have a turbo. I'd only been on it just before I fell outside!6 and a half weeks. The main issue was the spinal brace and being so weak from lying still all that time. I would get someone to go to Argos and get some 'stick on' hand grips for the shower - just makes sure you don't slip. I had a bath when I came out but needed lots of help getting out, so stuck to showers.

Just be prepared to accept help, and make sure you don't fall. Try and keep moving as pain allows. Get those muscles built up again. Do you have a turbo ?
I'm one of those who thinks that if you exaggerate a bit then IT WILL HAPPEN,like those who claim to have a terminal illness to get the public to give them money and stuff. I didn't want to tempt fate. Though I felt that rough with the long wait, on hindsight maybe I should've told them it was more serious. If it ever happens to me then my answer will be "yes, my leg DOES feel cold" backed up by "I am shivering and I think that I am going into shock" (which I probably would be anyway)!
The damaged leg might have been bleeding internally. I think a broken hip is a serious enough injury to warrant a very prompt response.
I'll give you a clue. I'm led down and being waited on hand and foot. I have a room with a view and it's 80 degrees Centigrade.![]()
