The women doing his claim told him to say his bags were leaking to get him more money.

There is often going to be an element of 'bulling it up' to increase the chances of a claim, but equally I assume 'told to say his bags were leaking' to get more money falls down in two areas (accepting my limited knowledge)
If we're talking about urine bags leaking, that's not a disability, that's perhaps a failure of equipment.
Secondly it wouldn't get him more money, simply increase his chance of qualifying for one of the two elements, i believe the amount paid is fixed for all, you don't get more money the worse the condition surely?

Having someone assist you completing the form is a bit open to 'stretching things' as they often know what works, what doesn't, what's relevant etc. My wife was helped by a former colleague, working with SEND children gave her an intimate knowledge of how it all.worked.

There is always the urge in some to stretch the truth but you need to fulfill several areas to qualify, not just one. There's not much you can do about dishonesty, it will always happen...ultimately they may fall on their own sword if they get sussed.

I don't know the exact numbers but PIP is made up of two components, daily living and mobility.

If one receives the mobility component then one can get a car through the Motability scheme. People receiving the higher rate mobility component of DLA or AFIP also qualify.

The mobility component goes directly to Motability to pay for the car.

As an aside I had the impression you have reached state pension age? PIP ceases at this age.

You can't claim/receive it if you've reached state pension age, but if like me you're, or in my case will be on it when I reach state pension age in February 2027, then I'll still receive it as I was granted it for a minimum of 10 years after my last review in 2024. Obviously whichever benefit takes over from PIP at state pension age I won't be able to claim. Swings and roundabouts, as they say.

'Yes, it is possible to continue receiving Personal Independence Payment (PIP) after reaching State Pension age. If you are already receiving PIP when you reach State Pension age, your payments will continue, and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) will likely convert it to an "indefinite award" with no end date. You may also be able to make a new claim for PIP at State Pension age if you received DLA in the past year or are still receiving it'.

Er, you missed @PaulSB's number 43 post Pat, where he's dissing me for buying £300 hats, £400 jackets and once being an Accy Stanley steward!! Not only have you missed it, but on looking I see you've actually liked it!! 🧐

But you've posted elsewhere on here that it's what you do. Do those posts get deleted as well?

And questioning the moderation/moderators actions is supposed not supposed to be in public.

Er, it was an attempt at dry humour, not an actual serious post!

I'm on the standard rate of £405 a month. I thought the higher rate, allowing you the mobility car and buss pass was about £700 a month. Do you mean you get £460 a month, with the rest going to 'pay' for the car? 🤔
The bus pass has nothing to with whether anyone is claiming PIP, or vice versa.

You are entitled to a bus pass, if you're on the higher mobility rate.
I had the free bus pass long before I was told I had to put in an application for PIP.
And it had no bearing on the assessment form or at the assessment.

The bus pass's are handled at a local level, by local authorities. Who also deal with Blue Badges.
