I ride past them
If you hanker after the glory days of Clitheroe town centre traffic jams I'd whisk you back to the days before the bypass.
When everything, including large lorries and buses somehow squeezed two way down the High Street.

It's not a human right to drive straight into the centre of a town at speed.

These days you are more likely to encounter these ageing reprobates:

My Grandparents lived in Hackney for most of 1970s. It was a horrible place to visit, esp from Norfolk. I lived in Bow for a while and it seemed OK but there is probably a difference between staying in a houseshare and raising a family in a sh*thole area.

My girlfriend back in 1984 grew up in Hackney and Lambeth
She was the only white girl in her class in Hackney, so I'll guess its a poverty and ethnicity problem, we have similar parts of Peterborough which ate mostly foreign residents, but i wouldn't say they were unhappy areas, but you do see a lot more decay, and poor neighbourhood pride.

Perhaps this is a labour MP problem
