Also glad you walked away unhurt.
Guessing you may also be more careful with maintenance in future?

There is every excuse available especially as the exact cause of the failure has not yet been determined. The probability of killing someone else is very low - look up the statistics for fatalities to third parties caused by cycle riders.

The big question is: Did wearing a helmet save his life? :okay:

That depends on how rough his girlfriend is with him

Have to say Im surprised.

Im not surprised that ... You lost your pads
Im not surprised that ... You went over a wall
Im not surprised that ... You landed in a garden when the owners were there.

But I am surprised that a bike was left on the floor for seconds without a scrap van coming along and taking it. There's a roving fleet in Walsall that never seem to stop!

Speaking as a concerned brickie how did the wall stand up to the collision
wall seemed fine.
What happened to rear brakes or am I missing something as usual.
theyre rubbish and weren't enough to stop a 18 stone lad on a BSO at the speed I was going.

as for the whole helmet thing. I don't normally wear one. I was on this occasion though, probably protected my head to a extent but im not going to get into the whole would a helmet of helped thing bla bla bla...

brakes were fine when I did my morning checks, they were working up until that point. no idea why they came off. it happened. end of.
