First settled snow for us in Mid Sussex, overnight. But only a few mm: enough to persuade me to take the main roads into work this morning, rather than the residential back streets. But my way in was clear. At present a damp sleety drizzle falling, not much ice about, temp. just on freezing. We're still waiting for the Arctic blizzards...

4-5cm in Chavvy Chesham overnight and still falling. That said, I think the temperature has risen a tad, so maybe it won't stay for long.

A sprinkling off snow overnight in West London but the roads are still clear.
It's more sleety snow but it is sticking to the pavements. Stings the face when not wrapped up in the buff.
If it carries on through the day, then the roads will probably be safer than the icy pavements, even with my road tyres.
Strangely there weren't many cyclists outs today

Well we had another mm or two so the world looks white ... and its sticking to the roads but no depth to it. Was going to give the option of walking to school rather than cycling if he wanted to play in it as we went along, but he asked for a hat to go under his helmet so we cycled. Got to school to discover ... no other bikes, bike shed closed, and his mates were really astonished that he had cycled. And it wasn't that bad.
However this photo was taken yesterday with less snow but still bit icy:

our first load today in macclesfield. i was due a day off but as a freelancer when work calls… anyway, i made my way down the road to knutsford in the car

The Diamond is an expensive pub. I like the Boathouse in Wylam best!
Snow is being bulldozed onto the pavements to keep the roads level so it'll take weeks to go even if it started to thaw.

Wow Uncle Phil, that was more like the start of an episode of Casualty when you are geared up waiting for the big incident.... when it got to 1:38 where the Land Rover passed the van turning round I expected the screen to go blank and fuzzy. Looks a bit slippy?
