Up at Acton, after crossing the A40 going south, there is a little down hill section, with a left hand bend into a dual carriageway. So there are two lanes all going one way. I like to go at the same speed as the traffic because I feel safer and I need to be near Primary to take a right after the left bend. It's possible to do that speed as it's downhill and everyone is jockeying for position, obviously all the cars, lorries and vans want to overtake you even though there is on where to go (this could be the only section on their entire commute where they can put it into third (only for a nano second mind)).

Anyway at the left hand bend the front wheel just went away from me, and i skidded briefly along the ground. I was pretty sure I was alright as I instantly lept onto the pavement. Reaction of other road users... one car beeped! Not sure which car it was so I mouthed off at the lot of them, the van that was following to close, stopped tiptoed around my bike and sped off. (I then retrieved my bike). And the third car passed actually asked if I was ok...

Just a couple of grazes, and a careful ride home to complete my cycle. Currently I've taken to steering around corners, rather than leaning, not sure how long that will last...

Ouch...glad to hear no real harm done

Know what you mean though...for a while after something like that you do end up taking corners wider and with less leaning of the bike..it wears off untyil you've forgotten all about it and then you do it all over again (hopefully just a quick scare and not an off though)

I've had that happen to me, on Old Street roundabout many years ago. I was offed by car as it cut close in front of me and hit my front wheel, sending me sprawling. The car didn't stop and carried on up City Road. I sat up, surveyed the blood running down my forearm... when a car approaching blasted it's horn. Nobody stopped. Beggars belief doesn't it?

When I came off on ice everyone laughed at me and no-one gave any concern at all

Then again...I was on the ice at Sheffield Arena in an interval between periods of a Sheffield Steelers ice hockey game promoting their branded bike. :blush:

Oww! Glad to hear you're ok. I took a drop in Acton too (last week). Must be cursed territory! One of the local 'yoof' jumped out at me from between heavy (buses and vans) traffic. Then he tried to walk away with my cable lock! WTF?
Luckily for me though, some people came to help and a passer by actually had a real go at him.
Acton = cursed!
