Do be aware that her stance may change when she realises the cost.
Make sure it is reported to the Police. Get a bike savvy solicitor lined up.

Ouch! Bad luck - +1 to sheddy's comment above - drivers do have a habbit of changing thier minds!
Good Luck

Well the police took her statement at the scene, so at least that's on record.

err

much as this is nice,, it also breaks her insurance t&c,, you must *never* admit liability... even if its blindingly obviously your fault..

@twozeronline , hope your shoulder gets better

Best wishes - if this is where I think it is (Google Maps is playing up), there aren't too many side turnings along there, but that one is a bugger - if you see how many cars and flats are in that little estate (Harrowdene Gardens/Shaef Way). I ride that road more in the winter - at the moment, I tend to bottle out (the road surface is truly appalling) and take the lightly gritted path in Bushy Park that runs parallel to the park wall and Sandy Lane, then pop out again at the park gates (path starts at Hampton Wick gate on the corner by the traffic lights). The mini roundabout slightly further along (or back, if you were going towards Kingston), is also a horrid spot for bicycles, though I have seen plenty of car on car accidents there.

I do hope you feel better soon.

This:
what are forks made of?

Carbon = replace without question.

Can your bike LBS check over and certify the frame as safe?

Injuries: it can be weeks before all injuries fully manifest, go to your doctor now and make them aware of all bumps, scrapes, twists etc

if you need physio, go to a specialist sports physio and get your solicitor to claim.

Don't be shy about claiming

PCSO has taken her statement yes, but ensure it is followed up and prepare your lawyers (CTC's are experienced in cycle claims). When my 'serious accident' occurred the police threw the book at the louts (failure to stop etc) but the compensation took a couple of years to arrive, private physio had to be paid for (shoulder injury also, thankfully not collar-bone!) and there is still pain in my shoulder many years later. No amount of compensation puts you back whole and uninjured, do ensure the driver remembers and regrets as long as you will.

Best wishes in recovery

Take photos of everything damaged; bike, helmet clothing etc.

Keep details of all witnesses, police officers etc.

Keep a journal to record how you're life has now changed as a result of your injuries; pain, sleep problems etc.

Keep all receipts; medication, physio, heat pads etc.

Contact good solicitor or CTC

Good luck and get well soon!

Thanks for all the advice, I'll take it all on board.

By the way, the real police showed up a little after it happened, and he took the statement. Was really helpful too. He took my bike back to the station, then came to the hospital to take my statement, and gave me a lift home with my bike in his van.
