Heating never fussed me. I have lived on boats and am not one to feel the cold. However cold showers are not my idea of fun.

Don't have one then ans save some time in the process!

I'd even ask your parents to write a letter - this sounds patronising, but, while universities despise their students they really fear the parents.

No they don't. Since the introduction of loans - the person with the financial firepower is the student.
