Yeah u can jump from them I'm told but not to it ,it's to do with voltage spike I believe , whatever it is it's not a great idea ,other prob even better cars are fine just not these I'm told ,my battery failed a while ago and it was totally dead ,now normally I'd just buy a new battery and fit it and start car that would b it .
I was told u can't do it that way , so I had to pay for a recovery truck to uplift it , drop off to a mercspecialist ( btw main dealer would b more than what I paid ) he fitted anew Mercedes battery from main dealer(130) fitted it , hooked it up to diagnostic to reset sensors ( because when they go below a certain voltage app they shut down and need on a star ( diag ) machine that was 80 and then vat on it ,it totalled 250 quid for a flat battery!!!( and the recovery charge which was another 60 on top)
maybe, and may be even some modern cars have special sensors that detect another battery being hooked up, and when triggered throw the vehicle into limp mode forcing a trip to the main dealer and a £180 ECU reset. Strange stuff on cars now.

But people do funny things and have funny ideas, I remember once me and a few other blokes pushing this other car down the road in an attempt for the driver to bump start it, and when we got up to speed and shouted, try it now - the driver started using the starter motor
That's not as stupid as it sounds depending on the circumstances. Was it an ancient diesel?

Some older tractors could be near impossible to start in cold weather, especially if worn. Plenty of people parked them on hills and bump started them with the starter engaged for a little extra engine speed and it does work. Old Fords could be terrible.
