For millions of cyclists around the world, wearing a pair of lycra shorts without underpants is a completely mundane and uneventful exercise, entirely unworthy of any discussion whatsoever. I'm struggling to understand what is so different about your situation..??

padded cycling shorts are designed to be worn next to the skin - so if anyone is saying anything different then 'yes' - they are wrong.

For that matter, the post was asking if bib shorts are better than normal shorts.

Is that not a valid question before i go and spend £50 on a pair.

Not having ever owned a pair, I thought it to be a valid question.

bib shorts are much better - well worth the extra...just dont your wear pants under them.

i have felt a lot more comfortable down below since switching to bib shorts over ordinary

i found ordinary shorts slipped down under the belly and move around quite a bit. Where as bib shorts are kept up with the straps, hold the belly and wobbly bits in and dont slip around so much and with a dab of vaseline under the alberts all is ok with the world

I tried commando (with padded shorts) tonight, it felt odd; not as liberating as I thought!

I am doing a 60 mile soon and dont want to get rubbed raw.

I have been using Muddy fox cheapo shorts, so that didnt help.

The shorts i had on moved about, i kept having to adjust.

spend your £50 on a set of Lusso pro-gel bibs and you wont go far wrong. As with any of this stuff, getting the right size is critical to comfort.

Looked on their website for the size (large) and will also checkout the lbs to see if i can try on a pair to check. I am a 34" waist, although depending on the make ive been anywhere from XL to M size!!

I use Wiggle's DHB branded shorts - dhb roubax in 3/4's and shorts, they are superb for £35 a pair

You need to do what I do. Throw "the lads" over one shoulder and wrap "the old man" twice around your midriff. It keeps everything snug and in place.

My cycling shorts come in the shower with me evry time I ride. They dry very quickly and always smell fresh.
