Hello. Does anybody know how simple or otherwise it could be to get a TV recorder working with a VirginMedia box? It is an old, relatively simple VM box, not a Tivo. I don't want to pay extra for a Tivo; I prefer the idea of a recorder that can be independant of VMedia if I decide to leave them.
I just can't get my head around what's possible and what isn't (I'd have it worked out in 2 minutes if I was 12yrs old).
Thanks in advance

It's not a great idea!

My Freeview PVR can record 2 different channels while I watch a recording. You would presumably only be able to record the channel that the VM box was tuned to at the time? How would you record more than 1 channel at a time? How would you watch a different channel while recording something? How would you get the VM box to change channels to record several programmes one after another?

If you really want to go ahead, you could pick up an old analogue PVR for virtually nothing since they are redundant post-digital switchover. Connect a SCART cable from the VM box to an RGB input on the PVR and record that?
