Lefty tighty. Get it righty.
On some older GPS I used to sometimes get a single rogue point miles away, as if I'd teleported a huge distance, and then returned all within two seconds (or whatever the recording rate was). Not seen that on more modern ones.

I used to find my Garmin GPS would underread when cycling through tunnels of trees. La Velo Francette northern section on long flat stretches I'd be cycling along steady cadence and clear view of sky at a steady 11 mph but then into a "tunnel of trees" sky obscured by trees and maintaining cadence, without changing gear speed would drop to a steady <9 mph. I assume that next clerar sky it would catch-up with higher speeds but never noticed that.

I used to have a wireless basic (non GPS) cycle computer. Digital wireless so supposedly not prone to interference. Yet fairly regularly out in the middle of nowhere, over a mile from any houses and stopped at a road junction I'd be recording speeds of 40+ mph.

A (different) non-digital wireless basic (non-GPS) cycle computer bike leaning against wall in hallway and cycle computer on kitchen table and speeds 0 ... 3 ... 5 ... 2 ... 0 ... 0 ... 5 ... mph.

Has anyone else noticed Strava now announce your recording device to the world when simply scrolling through clubs you have joined, rather than just when you click on a specific ride?

Not sure that's a great idea, I'm only using a cheapish RRP Lezyne that I got in the CRC fire sale, but for those using £400+ units it's got the potential for making you more of a target to thieves...
Make sure you have a privacy zone around home and any regular end points away from home, as well as don't publicise your ride start time if it tends to be similar most days, to reduce the risk of being thief-stalked!

Happened to me once on Zwift. I was suddenly going at 40mph or something and earning more badges in half a mile than I'd done in my entire Zwift career to that point. Until a message popped up saying something to the effect of suspicious input being investigated

I traced it to a faulty speed/cadence sensor. I replaced that and everything returned to a very boring, and stately, normal pace.

This is something Garmin added into their usage requirements for Strava - they have to show a picture of your head unit on every page you open. Something of a retaliation to Strava's recent lawsuit against Garmin, I think.

Both companies need to remember that the data they show and pass on to each other is actually OURS and not theirs.

I think if you look at the T&C, you will find it is theirs.

Most Strava clubs I've joined allowed anyone to join immediately, giving you instant access to the club activities summary page.

Heck, you can even search for a new club, not join the club and still see the club activities summary page and now see what gadgets everyone records their rides on.

That is a problem with teh whole idea

even if you hide you start and finish point it is quite often clear where you live - to some extent
and if people can see that you are riding a bike made from unobtanium and using a device that could make Elon Musk jealous
then a certain type of person might well think it would be worth breaking into your shed

Ah I don’t join those, precisely as it allows any random in the club to see your activity map.
