Also I always want to refer to my bike as "she" but I don't know if that's weird. Mine is definitely female but you can have both in French, la bicyclette (f) or le vélo (m).

It's not weird, if you think about it a captain of a ship says steady as she goes and I often refer to my car as she I.e she needs fuel or she is due for a service

My wife calls her white Giant Defy "Gina". Endearing in a way.

I think blokes tend towards the less emotional, I just refer to my bikes as "the TCR" or "the Trek", or "the road bike" or "the hybrid".
