Hats off to Lemmy, RIP

First saw Motorhead some 40 years ago, and saw Lemmy as part of Hawkwind before that

A real influence on music, and a sad loss

I love Motorhead, so much so I named my dog Lemmy.

Phil Lynott reckoned he was a rocker and even wrote a ditty to that effect. All well and good, but Lemmy was THE rocker - loud, unpretentious, uncompromising.

The Planet is a slightly sadder, more boring place without him. RIP dude.

I'm amazed and impressed he made it to 70.

Quote in his obituary along the lines of: when asked by a journalist why the band were still alive, he replied "because we should have died a long time ago, but didn't".

I saw Motorhead at the Outlook in Doncaster in, about 1978. After the gig I was having a final drink when Lemmy came up to me and asked. "Where have all the women gone?"
I didn't realise was 70.

Motorhead was the first band I watched live, Ace up your Sleeve tour. They was amazing and Lemmy was the driving force behind them and was with Hawkwind at their best.

If it wasn't for Lemmy and Motorhead my life may have been totally different. On first listening to Bomber as a teenager, it changed my life forever more.
Sad sad sad.
