I doff my cap and give a big chapaue to the 5 day a week 30+ mile commuters. Today is my fourth day of a 30 mile round trip commute and its bloody hard work.

So hats off to you and have another slice of cake
You'll get used to it an eventually 30 miles will seem like a walk in the park.

Although there are many that do more than 30 miles a day for the commute it is still a good achievement but if you can stay with it then you will soon find it less of a struggle !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Might take me a bit longer to get used to that! Chapeau doing that regularly
It looks steep, but really its just a steady 2% climb for 12miles, so 100ft per mile...

So decided 2/3 days a week will be fine from now on

100ft per mile, I come out in a cold sweat if I have to go over 30 feet per mile
Its a little less if you put the in/out journey together, its then 30miles and 1600ft

So thats approx 52ft per mile.......still not easy everyday, but i have enjoyed doing it to be honest

I will show our nice canteen lady this msg as to why I have enough cake to sink a ship at lunch.

Keep knocking the mileage in and you will find it becomes the norm. I started almost 4 years ago with a 28 mile round trip a couple of days a week. Now a 52 mile round trip every day is the average. Love cycling me :bicycle:

I must echo the OPs sentiment. I've only a 16 mile round trip, and the missus won't let me do it daily, so respect for those that grind away daily at big miles.

I'm recovering from illness, and while the missus would never try and stop me she wants me to face up to the fact that I've not been well I ain't 18 any more.

Give it time and I'll quietly start slipping the odd extra commute in, and before.you know it... ;)
