Have you any unusual hats?

I've got three Tilleys - two winter ones and a summer one.

I've got a couple of fedoras and a two Trilbys.

I am also the proud owner of a real Blue Helmet, which I've worn in the field.

I have my late fathers cap which I treasure.
I also have a Bobbys helmet! :becool:

I bet if you asked @Fnaar he'd tell you that Miss Goodbody's had a few bobbies helmets pass through her hands over the years.

I have a genuine fur Russian hat that I wear in the winter on the beach when fishing. I also have a shocking pink woolly bobble hat that an old dear in a care home knitted for me for fishing. I haven't the heart to get rid of it and I occasionally wear it. I also have loads of the Thinsulate hats that I seem to accumulate from somewhere.

I too have an Ushanka (ear hat) that I bought from an army surplus shop in Moscow, very warm even in -25C in the Russian winter.

I've got a 25 year old bush hat for the garden in summer, a couple of trilbies, a 'French' flat cap and a Victorian smoking hat. Well, a reproduction, for indoor use in the winter. A couple of beanies and a baseball cap.
I've tried on a couple of bowlers in a shop, but my head seems to be the wrong shape.

Another slaphead here so have lots of hats and caps although I wouldn't call them a collection. I wear a cotton cap when I'm cycling to keep the sun off and a tweed flat cap when I'm walking to keep my head warm. Somewhere there is a Fez for wearing at Madness gigs and I got married in a Trilby.

In my teens I had an idea to do a coffee table book entitled " remarkable hats" .
The idea was to stop people seen wearing a good hat and take their portrait. As ever, I couldn't be arsed!

As a teenager I used to wear a deerstalker.

When I wear my fedora

which I do when it rains, my wife says it makes me look like an idiot. She's been saying it for 20 years now, but I know it actually makes me look like Humphrey Bogart, so I carry on wearing it. Besides, it keeps the rain off. (This isn't actually my fedora, which is almost identical, except for a slightly narrower ribbon.)

In the summer I wear a panama

I'm on my third now. They wear out. I'd like to get a really good one, but they cost $3000, and even tho' my wife doesn't dislike my panamas as much as she dislikes my fedora, I think if I spent $3000 on one she'd get a bit huffy.

Neither of them is, I guess, exactly 'unusual', except that so few people wear proper hats these days, pretty much any proper hat is unusual. Anyway, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Along with my hats.

I once went to price a job for someone rather high up in the British Army . He insisted on showing me his collection of hats that consisted of other troops ceremonial hats . He started putting on bear skins and marching up and down the room as he swapped hats and carried on marching . Total nutter
You weren't on Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Take Away were you Cuch ?

Sounds like a candid camera moment..

I have an Earl of St Andrews tartan flat cap & matching trews..

Only worn occasionally sunny golfing days, made by Slanj in Glasgow.

Probably around 20 assorted baseball caps & beanies, a deer stalker, 2 Castro type hats & my old No1 R.A.F dress cap & my old beret.

Thanks to the SFLRP I own all sorts of stuff, the sensors are worn on the head and it can be nice to attach them to a hat rather than use a headband. I have assorted baseball caps and cheap trilby style stuff, flat caps, covers, a steel M1 Vietnam era helmet and a Kevlar 'fritz' helmet. Probably the weirdest is an old site helmet painted bronze with a chickenwire cage around it that was used in a steampunk game a couple of years ago. Oh, and a brown bowler for Firefly games, plus a leather top hat a friend made, although thanks to the way it is made it has a slightly more 'puritan' look to it than a 'standard' topper. Every day wear is a baseball cap or a peaked woollen carhartt...

I love wearing my hats. Mainly fedora types. I've got 2 high crown fur felt wide ribbon fedoras(Akubra Fed IV), 1 thin ribbon felt Akubra Campdraft (open road style) a homburg, a Panama for the summer and a burgundy wool flat cap (that doesn't get much head time). I've got another FedIV and a Campdraft on their way in different colours. I've also got a few cycle caps and a couple of cycles helmets.
N+1? You don't know the half of it.
p.s. I've got a full head of hair so I'm not hiding my head, I just like hats!
