Ignore the neighsayers, you don't look pony. I was going to change that spelling but it'd probably end up as a stet son.

I want to wear a hat, but being a socially awkward git, I'm too afraid. Asking the Mad Scientist and Drama Queen for advice brings accusations of 'wanting to hide your bald spot', out something.

Mmmm....... forgot about my Aussie hat. It's some kind of leather (kangaroo, bison, camel?) and looks a bit like a Stetson. Anyroad I used to wear it for canoeing and had it on during a very wet paddle on Loch Lomond. It was raining so hard that we had to keep baling the boat, proper Scottish rain. The hat kept the rain out of my eyes but it got heavier and heavier and also became very slack, eventually slipping over my eyes. I suppose they just don't get rain like that in Oz.
The next day was sunny and warm so the still wet hat was very useful at keeping the sun out of my eyes and cooling my head as the water evaporated. We were a bit worse for wear so I wasn't surprised to have a headache. I was surprised that the headache got worse as the day went on until I realised that the soaked hat had now shrunk and was 'nippin ma heed'.
It never recovered from that soaking and is now too small for me. You can have it if I can find it.

No unusual hats.

Just; trilby, straw trilby, outback hat (hard to carry off IMO), flat cap, baseball caps, beanies, felt trilby.

All of which make me look stupid, apparently.

I'm a fan of hats, I think they are preferable to umbrellas and required in the sun.

I have a beanie. I was given a Panana hat a few years ago. I looked like a rather unsuccessful Saga advert wannabe and a bit of a prat. Fortunately, my teenage daughter snaffled it. I also have a faintly sinister black baseball hat with some writing on it..." Hawaii Pig Hunters".
