Five or six years ago I went looking for the Coventry Godiva Festival site one day and on the bottom of the page the search engine, AOL, brought up Shemale Godiva and curiosity got the better of me, bloody ell! ;)

I remember the very first time we connected a home computer to the internet, maybe 15 years ago now, the whole family clustered round the monitor.

Almost the first thing that appeared was a "banner", with a row of animated erect penises marching across the screen! Somebody quickly clicked on something else, and everybody was too embarrassed to mention what we had all seen.

It really got me thinking though. The display of images of erect penises was controlled and licensed at that time, you were supposed to be 18 and use a licensed sex shop. Those penises marching across the screen that day told me that that government control and licensing was now meaningless. Which I think is a good thing.

Incidentally, while I have seen a certain number of penises and other bits and pieces on teh interwebs over the intervening years, I've never seen anything at all like that first banner.

Depends what you search for I suppose.

An example. There is a town about 40 miles away from where I live which is called Muff. Now suppose you wanted to search for something to do with Muff...

The internet is full of unpleasantness the same as it is full of worthwhile decent stuff aswell, it always has been IMO. Web users can be easily tricked into clicking through to something they might not want, eg a popup appears saying do you want to instal xyz program, yes or no, but yes means yes and NO means yes and so does the X in the corner, because that was the way it was designed, to trick you. (by the way, if you get that - use ALT F4 to force it to close, don't click the X). It's better nowadays with more modern browsers, that have anti phishing and anti popup etc, and the antivirus and anti spam software is in a constant battle to keep back every new trick the spammers have. But if you end up somewhere unpleasant, just close it down. As far as I'm aware, it would be easy for an expert to tell if someone just stumbled on something or was having a good look.

A few years back I needed to buy a new drysuit for work. The industry standard was supplied by northern diver. Now, apart from the diving equipment seller, the only other links were for birds of the same name, so when I clicked on N-Diver or whatever the seach result was, I was extremely surprised to be directed to a hard core porn site, which then spawned hard-core pop ups at an alarming rate as I tried to shut things down. Eventually I had to hold the power button down. I had a similar thing happen when searching for the US Navy Diving Manual. Both times I told our IT dept who told me not to worry as "these things happen".

More recently I did a search for images from the "First Monster Challenge" - a duathlon relay around loch ness. Turns out a lot of the images involved someone's first encounter with a monster c*ck, although I didn't enter the sites concerned.

I get lots of sex sites submitted to my web directory, and often get plagued with pop-ups when closing the browser after reviewing them.
Presumably you are only reviewing them out of a sense of duty

The type of stuff mentioned in the OP is not "accidental stumbling" material, it is Copine Scale 5 material.

You can google Copine scale to find out more....(edit - Copine scale will be safe to google!)

If you want....

Seriously, the COPINE scale is the scale used to define the 'seriousness' of child sexual abuse. But steer clear of paying much attention to sites which us the term 'child pornography' as they obviously have not 'got it'. It is child sexual abuse.

Someone in work had a brake problem on his new Skoda, so he thought he'd check it out on the internet. It came to our attention via the head of Security who wanted to know who was searching for 'Master & slave'.
