Ok, it was a big lie. I did used to get confused a lot for Ross Boatman from London's Burning.

This reminds me of the fact that I had a lecturer who told us, in all seriousness, that he had been mistaken (on more than one occasion) for Robert Redford. I always found this puzzling, on account of the fact that he looked quite a lot like Kenneth Williams. I thought it unnecessary to point this out.

No, but someone 'famous' was mistaken for me. Quite a few years ago now my first wife was away with work in Manchester, they were all in the hotel bar one evening when Gary Bailey (Man Utd goalie at the time apparently, you can see why I put famous in inverted commas above) walked in and she thought it was me coming in.
