... a plastic bag in your chain/rear mech?

Did it have you off?

Once had a length of bailer twine in my cassette in an mtb race.

not a plastic bag... but last year, a piece of rag. Tore my Ultegra dérailleur in 2.

A Montane featherlite jacket falling out of one's back pocket also does the same thing... :cursing:

No, but I did have a considerable length of nylon fishing line around rear mech. which caused some peculiar problems, very disconcerting as I couldn't even see it until I got down and looked closely:sad:.
Tyneside angler...grrrr.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
I had my galaxy tablet fixed to the rack on the back of my bike with bungee cords. I was using my tab to take photos of my ride today about three weeks ago. I stopped to undo the cords to take a photo, when I found that one of the cords had come undone and was wrapped around the gears and between the spokes of my bike. God knows how I didn't end up going erse over tip over the handle bars. I had no clue it had happened, and my bike and the gears and spokes were fine. Oh and I got my photo as well.

Yesssss, it did occur to me you might be watching it but just in case....

I once had one glue itself to a hot exhaust. That stunk for a bit.

I had one stuck to an exhaust once.... thought the car was on fire, the smell was that bad.....so was going to get clear and wait for it to explode before I called the fire brigade so there was no chance of it surviving..... The car was that s***t

Yes, on a wet night ride I rode over a big sheet of polythene and a corner flipped up and caught in my mech, bending the hanger. However the frame being Ti, I was able to straighten the hanger enough to get me home.

In other Giro news, I've also come off and headbutted the armco.

I hope everyone in those smashes are ok.

Many years ago on a very windy day, a black dustbin liner wrapped round the rear mech and gears, didn't have me off but brought progress to a rapid stop, took about half an hour to remove it.

Had a pigeon hit my rear wheel once. I am guessing something spooked it as it flew straight into the wheel, and the first thing I really knew about it was sliding along on my side and still being clipped in, and feathers everywhere.
Took ages to untangle what remained of it, and it broke 3 spokes and bent a few more. Could still ride home but it was a bit wobbly. Had to get the wheel relaced and trued afterwards.
