It's not so daft; I used to live with a French girl who sometimes didn't understand me. I did find that repeating myself in a silly Antione de Caunes accent used to work.

Kinda makes sense. If you speak to someone using similar pronunciation of English they would use if they were speaking it surely it would make it easier for them to understand?
