If it's rainy and cold in France, what hope have we got here?
Enjoy cycle chat!

I hope the weather's improved since last Monday - it certainly has here in Notts. Mayenne isn't generally a big tourist destination, but I like it.
My wife certainly enjoyed a couple of riverside rides on our Brommies last September, from Montgiroux up to Mayenne and back, then a couple of days later from Montgiroux down to St-Jean-sur-Mayenne and back. She's not confident on the roads, even locally to us, so the variety of well-surfaced (and relatively level!) traffic-free routes in that area is a real bonus. On road, the respect generally given to cyclists is a revelation - the only close passes seem to be from cars with GB plates!

If you're in the area again & like level, traffic free routes, try the railway paths: http://au5v.free.fr/carte/Voies-Vertes-France.html

Thanks for the link! I've used the one between Domfront and Mortain several times when staying in a gite near Mantilly. Great for traffic-free cycling, wildlife and chances to improve my very limited French by joking with cycling locals. e.g. Him: "Bravo, vous etes un rouleur!" Me: "Mais non, monsieur, je suis grimpeur! Quelle direction pour le Mont Saint Michel?" Oh well, he laughed, so it couldn't have been too bad!

PS It's now snowing hard here in Nottingham, otherwise I'd be out riding, honestly.

Welcome, from another francophile. Down here in the Dordogne the weather is a bit weird. 21 degrees last Saturday, then snowing on Monday:ohmy:. Mind you, I think the weather is changing judging by the amount of cyclists who are now venturing out.
