Hi all.

Just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. Did cycle racing back in my teens but the discovery of cars & motorbikes soon killed that. Got the bug back for after doing a "coast to coast" (via the Leeds / Liverpool canal) for charity last year.

Have a hardtail MTB built off an old Specialized Rockhopper frame, and have recently rebuilt & updated a 10 year old Specialized Allez Sport for the road. Can't believe how the technology has changed.

Looking forward to the better weather so I can get some miles in and lose (quite) a few pounds. :-)

Kind regards

Steve

:welcome: to CC Steve, and amen to the above

Sounds like you know your stuff on the self build side, but if you do get stuck with something I don't think there's a thing the CC crowd can't resolve, and it's usually faster than a speeding bullet :gun::biggrin:

There are a lot of very knowledgeable peeps on here, and IME none of them are shy when it comes to sharing their nouse, and that's what stands CC apart from every other forum I've used

Hi and :welcome:
I know what you mean ref technology.
I have a 1997(or there abouts) Look KG 227. It is one of their early carbon framed bikes.
I can still replace everything on it if it wears out except for the 8 speed shifters.(Shimano flightdeck 8 speed) There are still some Shimano R500s about but at around £170 to £200, I'm hoping mine will keep on going for a bit longer.
Nice going with the Specialized Allez Sport .
I wish you well.

Welcome to the forum Steve.

Lots of good MTB and road riding from the Ashton area and quite an active cyclechat community around the Manchester area so watch out for group social rides in the informal rides section.

Steve's a good name too

Hi Steve,
Grew up in Stalybridge (not sure whether you'll see that as a good thing or not lol!!!) Loads of hills near you so you'll soon be shedding the pounds. Good luck!
p.s. Cracker of a hill in the 'bridge if you go up the reservoirs near Millbrook...almost killed me last time I tackled it (didn't help that a deer tried to take me out on the descent!)
