Nice to know there's some nearby folk on here. Know of any local cycle groups, PpPete? Re: clipless, the pedals you see on the bike are just plastic courtesy pedals. I intend to get proper clip in pedals and shoes when I can.

I was going to suggest Sotonia, but you want to be careful with that Davenport chappie. He tells porkies. Whatever speed he says his group is going to do.... it will always go two miles an hour faster.
