I am a newbie-ish to bikes, haven't ridden one since I was a teenager (15 years ago). But now since past few weeks, I have been warming to the idea to buy one and start biking to keep myself fit - The beer belly is starting to show.
I think I will be biking 2-3 times a week, all for leisure (as against biking to work), in and around West London on weekdays and over the South East UK on weekends (if I can fit the bike in the back of my car).
Next few days I will be doing some research to see what bike suits me - I am looking to spend around £100-£150 on a bike and another £50 on accessories (helmet, lights, etc).
Looking forward to some guidance from this forum and contributing with my experience

its all about enjoyment and you will be surprised how quick your fitness levels rise. There's some great riding out there to be had. Does your place of employment do the Cycle to work scheme ? If so you can get a better bike and accessories and you only have to ride it to work once a week the rest of the time its all for pleasure.
