Good to know there's someone with the same bike. What do you think of yours?

It's great for what I use it for. Bought it off a member on here, who'd set it up as below and I've made few changes but there are quite a few articles on the web of people turning them into serious tourers

Hello Jack, welcome to the board!
Thanks man!

Very nice! Nice dog too. haha Hmm I might have to check those out, when I received it, it did have the look of a bike that could be easily modified. Solid bike even if you have it stock though.

Not the best pic but here's mine:

-Sorry about link, insert image doesn't seem to work with flickr?

Ah, yours is a much more modern one. I think mine dates from the early 90's. I like the look of yours.

Huh! I thought that there was an age difference but not that much! haha Yeah the one I have is still listed on the Raleigh site so it's pretty new. Some nice additions like very chunky handlebars, chain cover, kickstand and stuff...

That looks a similar vintage to mine. I like the shade of blue:thumbsup:. Powder coated?

I believe so. I bought it off Ivan Hardon of this forum and like I say, have done very little. New seat, sidestand, panniers on it, good for shopping, dog walking, family hols where a bike is required but not essential and utility trips of about ten miles. A change of bars and wheels would see it make a pretty good tourer. I need to take a kink out the front wheel and put the new headset on that came with the bike.

Hi Jack, I live the other end of the Northern Line from you up in sunny Southport, good site this, not been around here long myself but helpful friendly people.
Hey! I bet some of the roads round there make for excellent rides especially north of town by the dunes/ marshes?
Good to hear, seems like a great site so far too!

Roadhump

Time you enjoyed wasting was not wasted
A bit too much flatness, probably similar to your neck of the woods, so I'm useless with hills, but if you want a good battle with the wind, the Coast Road north of the pier will often oblige.

Hmmm... That's true, nice if you just want to be leisurely I suppose. Yeah Hunt's Cross is fairly flat and I don't cycle very far so it's dull honestly. Some fairly fun bits if you cycle a couple of miles away to Woolton and Allerton though!
