Sulham Woods is mega steep. I haven;t tried Streatley or Sulham Woods as the cars are awful. The hills I have done are on the other side of A340 and towards Thatcham.
I hate decents too. Last week I was on a borrowed bike in the Czech Rep - the climbs were fine but I was very slow on the decent and was so worried about coming off. I have managed 27mph descending Dark Lane and Harts Hill Road.
I got my bike from Dutch Bike shop in Littlehampton. It has 24 gears.
