Hello from Portsmouth

Today I bought my first road bike following the guidance of many of you (thanks for that). Its a Felt F100 pre-owned (with a few new parts), got it for £300 which is think is a decent deal.

Went on my first ride today going 6.1 miles in the process (slightly embarrassingly I had to stop twice because my fitness is even worse than I thought ). Bike seems really really nice to ride, although I'm still fiddling with the seat height to get it perfect. Can't wait to try and get the best out of it, although my fitness will have to drastically improve by then!

Finally, do any of you know any nice rides in and around Pompey? (I have a car so I am happy to drive a little to get to a ride).

Tak a train to Rowlands CAtle and there are miles of country roads and pubs. Or nip across on the Hayling Ferry, nip up the Hayling Billy and either cycle or train back from Havant

Nip across to Gosport and Lee on the Solent or the Isle of Wight.

Then when you are fitter the 35 mile "Round the Harbour route"

Hello fellow local! I'd recommend getting a bike fit done (money well spent) rather than fiddling about with everything. Velocity at Cosham will see you right.
Loads of great riding round here- +1 to Cunobelin's suggestions. Then there's the Meon Valley, some nice roads on the eastern side of the A3, towards Chichester...you'll hopefully soon not be needing to bother with the car
