Hi guys, just thought I'd introduce myself and say hello to you all.
My name is Mick, I'm 38 and I live in a fairly rural place between Sheffield and Chesterfield.
My love of cycling sort of came late(ish) in life....as a kid I only got as far as the raleigh "Chipper" (the small Chopper!
) before I gave it up.
I was incredibly overweight, weighing in at almost 25 stone, but after changing my lifestyle, developing a love for fitness (running, cross training, stepping, cycling in the gym to start with) I took 1 year 1 week to lose just under 10 stone and now tend to hover around 14st 4lb most of the time.
My first bike as an adult was a £50 "sterling house" special
which basically got me interested in cycling before the damn thing lost it's back wheel and I ended up in a ditch! I then went to see my local specialist cycling shop and bought a Giant Boulder (had it nearly 4 years now) and it's been wonderful, I've done hundreds of miles on it but it's getting tired and with all the new wheels and tyres, the crank is just about shot to pieces and I've probably spent enough on it now.....NEW YEAR NEW BIKE!
So that's me - much happier, healthier and loads fitter - 8 10km runs, 1 half marathon and another one planned for next year.
Just one question really - is there a forum section for advice on buying a new bike as I've got loads of questions and with a budget of upto £1000 a fair few bikes to choose from!
Hope to hear from you all soon.
Mick
