:welcome: Hi Frank nice to have you on board. Got to compliment you on your perfect English, you people from Europe in countries such as The Netherlands and Scandinavia have a brilliant educational system. Your ability to be fluent in several languages makes me so jealous.
I don't underestimate your terrain though, I did a 112 mile/180km sportive in the Fens (Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Lincolnshire) and it becomes very apparent you can't stop pedalling and coast down hills. Also it was June but the wind was hard work and that was sheltering in a big group, so it must be even harder in the winter, be it the Fens or Netherlands/Belgium.
I can see why Belgian and Dutch teams are considered specialist teams for the spring classic races.
Anyway enjoy yourself here.

Hello Frank, we have friends in Nijmegen and now several other places since touring the Netherlands last August using the Vrienden op de Fiets network. Enjoyed it so much we are doing it again this year and will likely be passing close to you at some point as we intend to take in a bit of Belgium as well [we like hills]. Will give you a shout if we do. Welcome aboard!

Welcome Frank and what a brilliant intro with humour and education included. Would love to cycle in the Netherlands as everyone I know who has been there say it is THE place to own a bike.

Yes indeed, it is THE place to own a bike, but also THE to get your bike stolen.
Ratio here in the netherlands must be almost 50/50 !
Blimey you hear that in the news ! I went to college with a mad Dutchman who used his bike as if he was still back home which might have upset a few "locals" :-). He also had a brilliant lock that was attached to the bike which locked the wheel and had a chain so you could lock it to the standard issue railings by the canal !

Mad Dutchman is there an other kind of dutchman ??

We usually have our locks attached to our bikes, that's true. On my Disc Trucker were no braze on's for a lock, so i used this one:

Works a treat!

:hello: @frank8265 and :welcome: to CycleChat ! :wahhey:

Wonderful introduction and I like the look of comfort from those handlebars ! :bravo:

I guess you'll be meeting loads of other CC folk soon, as they all head over to enjoy your 'flatter-lands' and ask for guidance/advice/beer/coffee ... ;)
