Hi there, my name's Paul and I've just gotten back into using pedal power after a gap of 20-odd years of using bikes with engines.
A couple of years ago I bought a Giant Escape 3, added a pile of extras, rode it a couple of times and then parked it up with my motorbikes.
On Christmas day last year, I dug the bike out whilst the traffic was light, did just over 10 miles in two journeys, killed my backside/legs/lungs, but used Runkeeper and logged the results and thought that I would use it more this year.
So far I've clocked up just over 100 miles in just over a month by joining San Fairy Ann CC with my wife and have got more confident with traffic and the seat (with padded shorts and a gel cover), and now hope to get out more and lose a few stone (10 would be nice) as the internal combustion engine made life too easy.
Back in the 80's when I had hair, I had a Raleigh Winner, that I used to zoom around on. In an attempt to recreate that sensation, I have just bought a 25" Raleigh Magnum from eBay this week and took it out today for it's maiden run and covered just over 20 miles and was like a (slower) blast from the past.
Anyway, I fully intend to stick it out and get fitter/thinner/lighter this time.
