I wouldn't say it looks awful, I think that's harsh tbh, (but I appreciate its only an opinion). I would have left the front wheel standard. I think the cf is unnecessary, (mind you I think all cf is unnecessary!), and I just don't go for the 'hipster' fakenger look myself. Would be a perfectly decent looking bike with matching wheels though.

Smokeysmoo -what's "CF", I need to know in case I have an opinion on it?

Otherwise: nice bike - except I'd want to settle on matching wheels, either would suit me depending on what you're using it for

Just taking a guess here I would say that CF = Cabron Fubar, at least that's how I read it.

Carbon fibre

What's Cabron Fubar?

'Tis but a deliberate misslepping. The first part I think i picked up from the bike snob.

However they both have definitions that may, or may not, be apt depending on your POV.

Using Wikipedia as a source ...

Cabrón (lit.: "big goat" or "stubborn goat") is used in Spain, Mexico, Cuba and Puerto Rico, as a generic insult. An old usage is similar to that of "pendejo", namely, to imply that the subject is stubborn or in denial about being cheated, hence the man has "horns" like a goat (extremely insulting).

The expression ¡Ah cabrón! is used sometimes when one is shocked/surprised by something. Among close friends, the term is often inoffensive; however, it is not a word to be used casually with strangers.

As an adjective it is equivalent to "tough" as "It is tough" (Está cabrón).

To some extent, it can also be used with an ironically positive connotatin meaning great, amazing, phenomenal, or bad-ass. Such expressions would be said as: ¡Estás cabrón! or ¡Yo soy cabrón!. The word is quite flexibly used in Puerto Rico, and it can even have completely opposite meanings depending on the context. Best friends call each other "cabrón" in a friendly manner, while it may also be used in an offensive manner. One might say, "Esta cabrón" to describe something as very good or very bad depending on the circumstance.

In Panama, it is used as an adjective to mean something/someone very annoying (that pisses you off). The verb cabrear can mean "to piss off (someone)."

In Peru, cabro is a reference to a homosexual, hence cabrón is a superlative form ("big faggot"/"flaming faggot").

The term cabrón also means a handler of prostitutes, comparable to "pimp" in English. The most common way to refer to a pimp is Spanish is by using the term chulo as a noun. In some countries chulo can be used as an adjective somewhat equivalent to "cool" (Ese hombre es un chulo = "That man is a pimp" versus Ese libro es chulo = "That book is cool"). The word chula is a completely benign reference to an adorable female or feminine object, as in "¡Ay, que chula!"

FUBAR is an acronym that commonly means "****ed up beyond all recognition/any repair/all reason".

So this poor lads fixed gear bike reminds you of a South American goat with a psychotic dis-position? Now that is a touch harsh

No.

Personally I have no hard opinion on CF. The forks on one bike are made of the stuff and it helps reduce the road buzz compared to the ones without it.

As for the OP's machine, so long as he enjoys it, that is all that matters. There are any number of things on it that I wouldn't have done, but as far as he is concerned they are irrelevant.

With the exception of the slack chain.

oh ok, but what's carbon fibre got to do with hipsters? An effed up goat I get, afterall who know's where else they get inspiration for their stupid beards from.

I like a bit of carbon myself, it features quite heavily on all my bikes in some form, and just because the transmission is a little basic/simple on a chap's single speed or fixed it doesn't mean he can't enjoy advancements in technology surely?

(it turns out I do have an opinion on the subject)

 I do have issues with cf, (enough to sell my full cf bike, but not enough to detract from the OT by getting into the subject). All I was saying was that I feel the cf wheel is unnecessary, but then again I guess so are the red anodised jockey wheels and red anodised tyre valve caps I have on my best bike

Each to their own say I  (but do expect opinions when posting on a public forum )

The owner is happy with it so whatever any of thinks is irrelevant
