Cracking a solo.
It would have to be a Christmas smarties tube and someone would have to volunteer to consume all the smarties.
By very strange coincidence I did exactly that a night or two ago, found one of the big smarties tubes left over from Christmas at the back of a drawer so I sat in the kitchen and munched the lot! The crispy coating wasn't quite as crispy and interestingly the colours had run into each other, they looked like individually tie-dyed smarties, still blooming tasty though :mrpig:

(Don't tell anybody but I found two tubes, I'm planning on scoffing the other tubeful in one sitting before the weekend)

Will you tape them together and pretend they're binoculars?

I bought a dogcam (old version not on sale now, but small and light) and placed it on my helmet. This was after a couple of incidents that could have resulted in me being hurt.
Of note;
- I cant tell if it makes a difference, but i feel i have piece of mind.
- Hot weather turns some drivers into even more impulsive speed freaks (acelerate and brake).
- Most drivers are absolutely fine and incidents are very rare.
- Cyclist end up the fall guy for other peoples frustrations, usually because were the smallest in the road food chain!

When I used one it made not the slightest bit of difference to driver behaviour, but that anecdote probably doesn't suit the OP's preferred conclusion.

Well given my limited replies so far from head cam users I'll take all the responses it is hard to conclude anything yet - Not many people have said I use one and it makes no noticeable difference so far. Who knows, a few more replies and I might get a more scientific conclusion? I've ordered one so I will be able to study peoples driving habits from now on. I agree with Dmcd33.

My missus has a method of keeping drivers behind her rather than speeding past when innapropriate, she inadvertently discovered it earlier in the summer. When she commutes to work her thong / g-string often pokes out her trousers! apparently this slows down quite a few drivers, although some try talking to her whilst parallel, which is not so safe. However, I doubt this method would work for me and is more likely to get me run over!

I don't agree with the Smarties tube approach. Not noticeable enough. A Pringles tube might work though.

We're talking Christmas Smartie tubes here, a very different animal. If I remember I'll take a pic of the one I've got left when I get home later next to a 10p piece for scale.

I use one and it's made zero difference to the other cars. It's helpful in the incidents that require footage for police etc.

Well that's one positive I guess.
I was thinking of stapping my LED lenser torch to the helmet, it does look a bit like a camera, but it's actually quite heavy. And no, i'm not prepared to stoop as low as using smarties tube!:rolleyes:

Surely, given the main benefit of a camera is to have evidence to support an accident claim, it would be better to actually have a camera? Also, make sure you are a member of British cycling or CTC so you have. The benefit of legal and third party indemnity cover if ever required! I'd say that's a much better use of limited funds than a camera
