After realising how invisible I have been while commuting home at night, even though I have good bike lights and reflectives, I've gone nuts, I think, unless am not alone, with backupz on my helmet!

I now sport 7! 3 front, 4 rear! Is this tooooo much? I now look like the bloke from the film "The Running Man"! Albeit am slightly slimmer! Just!

Am sure theres no laws against this is there? Is this too much?

As long as one front and one rear conform to the relevant BS you can have what you like.

Tesco mini LED's for a couple of quid each, fit into the vents on my helmet. They have a blinding strobe flash and are absolutely unmissable.

My first outting last night with them all on and I was given much more space by drivers! Did get flashed by one car coming the other way, probably in disgust, but I was seen, thats all that matters!

Sig, your see tonight how much of a menace I am now! Mwahahaha! TESCO's one and Backupz.

MartinC, why would that be? I like my lights!

While helmet lights give you something extra...being able to see, and being seen...there are drawbacks that ive seen, and maybe that driver saw...

I was riding a country road one evening. I could see some lights ahead, but my brain told me they were too high. Must be a low flying plane (we get a lot of Harrier jets round here).....and for 30 seconds or so, i just couldnt work it out. It was really distracting and slightly disorientating. Then of course as the rider got close, i realised...helmet light.

Within weeks i was having this discussion with the wife. She said (she's not a serious cyclist, but a regular one)..yeah, i know what you mean...i have one on my ride home....its really distracting. As he approaches, i find it REALLY difficult NOT to be distracted by it. It makes me feel wierd.

Davy, if they legislate for helmets it makes sense for them to prohibit people messing with the helmets in case they make them less effective. I believe you're not allowed to stick things on motorcycle helmets. It's only speculation.

gbb, thats interesting.. Ive often been confused down country lanes seeing a red light ahead, for it only to be a Speed Cameras operation light! Now, I do use full bike lights and reflectives, so I should have been seen anyhow and this was under street lightening at that time it happened.. Ill see what the reaction is tonight on the Fnrttc. One thing I did spot was the kick back of light the road signs gave. It did make me wonder a few times who was flashing around me!

MartinC, I am sure I heard to same about motorcycle helmets this morning. Think theres a thread on here I need to read and maybe air my views?
