I wear the Rapha Merino leg warmers which I really like as they are soft, warm but really rubbish in wet weather so I only wear when in the dry. I have found that they are not staying up any longer, they tend to work there way down the thigh on and off bike. It appears the silicon grippers over time have lost their grip. One solution is to put the top opening of the warmers under my bib-shorts but I don't wear bib-shorts on short rides - I wear a polyester sports brief combined with an unlined running shorts (with pockets) over the top of the briefs. Does anyone have any suggestions for tights as an alternative to the the leg warmers. Tights won't work their way down and I can lose the briefs and wear them under the shorts. I'd really like something that feels similar to the merino.

I have an older Rapha wind jacket which I really like the design and fit of as it has plenty of stretch and is long at the back. It's also very light and folds down small for the jersey pocket. It's this:

The problem with the Rapha jacket is:
1) it has no water resistance – I can live with that as it's primary purpose is to layer and block wind on cold days.
2) it blocks wind poorly - it has little wind resistance.

Suggestions for a replacement light-weight wind jacket that actually blocks the wind is very much appreicated.

Lusso offer very good bib tights across a wide range of styles. It's easier if you take a look on the website. Currently 20% discount for Black Friday. I have two pairs and I'm happy to recommend the company.

For a jacket consider the Galibier Tourmalet, a steal at +/- £80. Windproof, waterproof and genuinely breathable. It won't pack down to the extent your Rapha does. I roll mine up very tightly and squeeze it into a material sunglasses cover. Gets about 90% of it in. The lack of a cover is my one, tiny, criticism of the jacket.

Another solution is, as those of us of a 'certain age' will recall is to have a length of elastic tied to appropriate size near the top of said leg warmers in the fashion of schools socks - ! :okay:
Also a very cheap fix - !

Thanks for the recommendations. I actually already own several pairs of Bib Tights but I don't wish to wear them when I'm only riding short trips (under 10 miles). I've managed to find a variety of Merino tights on Decathalon that are very reasonably priced and should not fall down like the leg warmers, just have to decide which ones I prefer.

The fit around the neck on the Galiber looks very loose. I really only need a jacket that's wind-proof and will pack down into a back pocket. I have several waterproof jackets but they are to bulky to pack down.

you could use gymnast/dancers glue if the leg warmers are absolute must haves. but Id have thought there were hundreds of sport leggings/tights options to pick from as alternatives from all the major sports brands thesedays

I have a pair of these.
Very comfortable, very soft, very warm down to at least 3° C. (I am 185cm tall with long legs, size L fits easily).
I have no idea how they are in rain. But if you are riding less than 10 miles, I would imagine they would be ok, except in torrential downpours.
