I'm thinking I might have a bike made to my own specifications and I'm looking for guidance/suggestions.
The last few years I've been riding a Fondriest racer, I go for 25-50 mile trips on quiet country roads, cyclepaths and old wagonways, three or four times a week, the racer isn't ideal for the rougher tracks and I am getting older, so I think I need something a bit more robust and also more comfortable, so I'm thinking about a (steel) Audax frame. I quite like the idea of no derailleur, I'd like this to be the last bike I ever buy and I want it to last, so I'm considering a Rohloff hub, but I'm wondering how they fit in with dropped handlebars, and whether the range of gears will be wide enough.
