Im sure im posting this in the wrong place but here goes anyway...........
I have a Bikemate cycle computer, only cheap but its always done its job of telling me-pretty accurately too it must be said-how far I have ventured. it came with no instructions but was easy enough to set up when I bought it about 12 months ago. However, I have finally got round to putting the time back an hour( )and in doing so I inadvertedly changed the language to French. (merde  ) But I shouldn't be surprised as a couple of weeks ago I changed my Skype to Russian so It is obviously a talent I have developed
In attempting to change it back to Englaise I have done something tragic to the wheel-size setting and cannot for the life of me remember what I originally had it set to.My wheels are 26 but it needs 4 numbers. Do I put 2600? And also, what is the calorie function?? I have calories and Kcalories..the Kcalories is the only one that registers anything and I need to know how much chocolate I have earned
Apologies if I am being thick concerning any of the above btw  and thanks for any help in advance

Hi Lisa,
Calories and kcalories are as far as I know the same thing.
Wheel size: 26 Inch wheel should equate to a setting of about 2050 on your computer. It's the circumference of the wheel in mm. A more accurate way of measuring it is to chalk a mark on the ground where the valve stem is at the bottom of the wheel, wheel your bike forward until the valve stem comes round to the bottom of the wheel again. Mark another chalk line at this point. The distance between the two marks in mm will be the setting you need to put into your computer. Hope this helps!
Cannot assist on the language issue, though.

The wheel size setting will be (I think), the circumference of your wheel in mm. You need to know the tyre size, as just 26" will be too vague I think. I don't suppose you have the instructions that came with it? They should have a table with mm reading for different tyre sizes.

There's some stuff here on Sheldon's site, giving a table of tyre sizes and results for various computers - he does mention one model of Bikemate, is that yours?

If not, it's likey to have the same setting method, so look here for your tyre size:

If your tyre size isn't there, you might need to measure the tyre circumference...

Thanks both, I thought "26" would be a bit too vague, and those links were very helpful Arch, thank you.

As for the Calorie and Kcalorie being the same, I thought so too but i guess they cant be or there would be no need to have them both on?? I dont know. Maybe I need to change it all to Latvian and then none of it would matter................................

I never rely on the printed tables in these booklets. I layout a tape measure and roll the bike along it exactly one revolution with my weight on the bike (valve at bottom start and finish make it easy). All of the cycle computers I have seen take the value in millimeters. Somewhere around 2080 - 2100 sounds about right.
