I wouldn't want to ride a new bike 100 miles so soon after getting it . I'd want a few long rides first to check the positioning is ok for me .

Can you repeat the bit that goes "I am female" as I have one of those at home and this would have lead to a very short 'conversation', two words in fact.

Just phoned Pedal Power in Martlesham and they've said it should be ok for the weekend - the creak may be off putting but won't cause any damage and will be fine for 100miles - but get it to the shop the next week and they'll try to identify and source a replacement BB and talking it through with them on the phone they agree that the chain and rings etc shouldn't need replacing - unless as you say they are worn out in their own right!

Is it just a creak, or is there play in it? If you grab a crank/pedal and wiggle it does it move up and down? If so, I wouldn't leave it until after the ride because if it fails , you won't be riding anywhere

I think @jefmcg BB came a cropper around the time of one of her mammoth rides...I wouldn't risk it on a 100 miler...and if it's a sportive, he should pre-book his spot on the broom wagon just in case...sweep sweep
Actually, it the only long ride I did was Box Hill with you.
