Help with a selling price please

I've recently put up a few posts about my lads all singing bike. Unfortunately I've realised it' now getting to small so I'm looking at the next size up.

This means I'm wanting to sell on the rolling frameset from his old one (All the components are going on his new bike)

So I bought it in June the Frame and wheelset were £525 and seem to now becoming the new big things in kids bikes.

Any help on pricing the rolling frameset I'm stumped.

As above. Can't you keep wheelset and just get another frame?

Kid's bikes tend to hold their price a bit better, particularly if complete.

However, you're still aiming at 50-60% of the original price.

Thanks the next size up takes him onto 700c wheels as appose to the 26 he's on now.

It depends on make, model, condition, etc. A rolling frameset is almost always worth less than an overall bike.

eBay / Facebook / their local club is the identifier of price. Try the Yorkshire Cycle Sales FB group as a start.

Thanks I've never actually seen another go up for sale even on Yorkshire cycling sales. I'l keep digging

It’s a bit of a specialist/enthusiasts buy really isn’t it. Individuals looking for a rolling frameset must be limited due to number of people having the knowledge or inclination to build it up which limits its appeal, most would rather buy a finished rtr bike so it might be best to target cycling clubs, groups and sites like this.

Please take this in the spirit it's meant (you may recall from another thread that I was astounded that a boy aged 9 would have a bike retailing at £1250). Your 9 year old will be 10 next year (NSS) and they grow. A 10 year old's bike does not need to be 'ossum' it just needs to work (round the XC course). Drop the quality and save some money for the next but one bike (for when he's 12) out of the 60% proceeds of this 'rolling frameset'. There'll be other parents supporting on the XC races whose daughters/sons are a bit older and want to shift their bike on (because they've grown) - this seems the best source (and indeed market for your 'now bit too small' frame).

Thanks I will be doing just that. Hence buying Frame only and transferrng components. The initial outlay was always in the plan to save on components in the future. If the right bike doesn' turn up second hand now I may hold onto it for a bit.
