I was prepared. I had patches, a spare tube, a pump, and tyre levers. Even with that preparation, I still had to call for a ride. It seems that yesterday's London to Cambridge ride in the pouring rain killed my Topeak race rocket. When I got a puncture, I spent half an hour trying to get some air into the tyre, but it won't budge.

Have you tapped the valve?

I can move the pump, and with no valve attached, it makes air noises, but with the valve attached, nothing. I had to use some of the chain lube I had with me to get the pump handle moving reasonably well.

The frustrating thing is that there must have been nearly 100 cyclists pass me in the 40 minutes I was there and not one asked me if I was okay.

That's England for you. I had no end of offers of help when I was sheltering from the sun in 100+°F in Washington State. No punctures or mechanicals, just dehydrating faster than I could rehydrate.

If I had to I would flag down another cyclist - or several ^_^
Actually did this for a friend, I did not have the right spanner for her bike: 2 cyclists later we had the right spanner, we fixed the flat :okay:

I've got one of those pumps - I'm off to check its working now...:pump:

Seriously though, its a bit poor that no one offered a hand or at least asked.
