@CopperCyclist Hope you're making a good recovery!
It occurred to me when updating my cycling log just now, that I've not seen a post from you in a while, which is pretty unusual :smile:.
It seems you've had a Knee injury to deal with since the beginning of June. Well here's wishing you all the best for a full recovery and a speedy return to CC :hugs:

When updating 'my cycling log' I noticed a comment from CopperCyclist referring to having a "broken knee" at the beginning of June.
Unless that was some sort of secret code :blush: . Anyhow, not been heard him from lately, so hope all is ok :smile:

Only just saw this post.

Yep, after returning from a Solihull to Paris cycle trip, I wanted to get a 100 mile ride in, as the longest day we had was a 96 mile, and I regretted not going for a short four mile detour just to get the milestone! I went out with the intention of doing a 100 miler, and on or about 20 miles, my knee started to hurt a bit. I ignored it, thought it would go away, but it didn't, until at the 65 mile mark I had no choice but to bail and call the Wife AA.

The knee pain was strange - it got gradually worse and worse, hurting as I bent it. It didn't matter whether I put loads of pressure through it, grinding a big gear, or barely anything, spinning a low one - it hurt the same amout regardless on the bend of the knee. The doctor was very unhelpful, and said "No idea what it is, its a mystery. Rest it". He also gave me some anti-inflammatory tablets which promptly gave me an allergic reaction and left me shaking, sweating and bed ridden for a day!

I rested it for ten days, got back on a bike for a short 10 miler (dropped the car off for an MOT and cycled back) and the pain returned with avengeance at mile 7.

About a month later, I tried again, and touch wood, so far, no pain. No idea what caused it - my knee wasn't noticeably swollen, and as I said, whenever I had pain it was only to do with bending the knee - whether I put weight on it or not made no difference: I could have done ten squats holding nothing, or holding heavy weights and the pain would have been the same.

It seems back to normal at the moment, and I'm trying to regain the lost fitness, and lose the gained pounds! I wasn't very active on here whilst I was off as for me this site is very connected to my cycling - sorry for not noticing sooner!

Glad to hear your more mobile now, and hope it stays that way :thumbsup:
My left knee has played up a bit on occasion, to the point that climbing stairs has been painful. The odd thing is though, sometimes I'm able to 'ride through it' and it will vanish again :wacko:
