Have you split a chain before?
You're going to need to invest in some tools. If you haven't any to start with, a bicycle tool kit for about £40 will be a good asset.

You need a chain splitter to take the old one off and to resize the new one and if it doesn't come with a quick link, the change splitter can be used to rejoin a chain.

No this will be the first time. I ordered one off eBay yesterday.
I'll look into buying some more tools when I get paid.

Good luck

If you have an old chain, have a practice before you do it on the new chain.

If you've looked at the charity/refurb map referred to up thread sometimes that sort of place have opportunities to work on your own bike in their workshop with support from their mechanics. They'll have all the tools you need and you'd have someone on hand to stop you making silly mistakes.

I built a bike up from a frame while volunteering at one.

I was hoping I could source some parts on here.

The one on it is in good condition, just I find the seats really uncomfortable.

Someone said I might be disappointed in the padded saddles so I might just leave it be.

I won't be going on long rides.

What County are you in? The problem with spares is getting them to you!
Ride the bike first, then see what you want to change after.

Mine is duel suspension and . . .
To be clear, the dual suspension 'feature' is dead (considerable) weight - absolutely to the detriment of the bike and the enjoyment of the rider. It's there so dads who know no better will think it's cool and sonny or daughter will think more of the bike.
This is the sort of riding you need dual sus for (I'm told):
