This is the response I got from Tfl including their link for Q&A and feedback which they'll accept after the trial period starts.
I looked through the listings of the red routes and there are loads of them. I'm now working out which red routes to try to start avoiding.
Buzzed by loads of scooters with inches to spare this morning on the A23 red route. It's going to be truly awful.
Thank you for your email, received 7th October expressing your concerns regarding the use of bus lanes by motorcycles.
This is an issue that formed part of the Mayor’s campaign manifesto, and as such, a trial scheme will be launched on 5th January next year. Motorcyclists will be able to share bus lanes on red routes with buses, cyclists and black taxis on a trial basis for eighteen months. The trial will be evaluated at the end of this period, and a decision will be made as to whether to make the change permanent.
The change will only apply to Transport for London bus lanes that operate with the flow of traffic, and motorcyclists are advised to familiarise themselves with the bus lanes open to them as well as checking the signs before entering any bus lanes. There is more information about the bus lanes affected and how to make representations about the scheme at:
www.tfl.gov.uk/motorcyclesinbuslanes
I trust that this information has been of use to you; however, if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
