There's a hill in Richmond Park?
I'm looking forward to you getting KOM on them when you get around this wayThere's a hill in Richmond Park?
You know , you have a very good point there . I don't look at the hill i am climbing ( if i know it ) . I look at the road ahead . Yes i look out for traffic but not at the scale of the hill .I know hills are no less steep in the dark, especially not Dark Hill, but there's something about climbing at night that changes the whole business of getting uphill. I'm still not sure what it is exactly - something about darkness dimming your awareness of speed and incline, perhaps, and maybe these make you choose the best gear for your legs without anybody seeing how slowly you're going. But, as we near the equinox, a night ride up a hill or two might be worth a try.
I'm more of the coughing up a lung persuasion, I've discovered. I don't have the time to do any long runs at the moment so I've been popping out to do a few reps of the hill in Greenwich Park on the heavy bike. Following a recent conversation with walkers (I'll talk to anyone when I'm on a bike) which ended up with me choking when I laughed, I decided that I should maybe wait for it to get dark before I projectile vomit the contents of my lungs. You know , you have a very good point there . When i do look for the top i am surprised at how close to it i am and then of course just sprint to the top rather than thanking god this nightmare is over and coughing up a lung![]()
Just got a reply back to my text and we are going to do a local loop at lunch time . I run a busy workshop so getting out is hard for me also .I'm more of the coughing up a lung persuasion, I've discovered. But, that's by the by - as the nights draw in, it's worth a try. Besides, you might not have the choice...![]()
