I was going to take the wife next january to Saint Lucia for her birthday but that's been scuppered because i've had three Bowel obstructions in the last two years due to scar tissue and the travel insurance is sky high.
Computer says no!

Is she aware of this idea to take her there?

There is an insurance company called Insure With. They were very good when I was diagnosed with cancer.
Normal insurance Cos wanted up to a grand.....they did it for £100ish (can't recall the exact figure).
Worth a call if you are still wanting to go.

Two weeks to go to Australia via Dubai but having second thoughts now, perhaps postponing to October?
Our flights are all scheduled still don’t know what to do though.

Essentially with St Lucia you're paying USA rates. Could try All Clear, Staysure but none will be cheap.

I would postpone personally as this conflict will last more than 2 weeks or the aftermath will.
Check with your travel agent/airline/insurer of course

Maybe there’s a different routing option? Via Singapore maybe?

Postpone is our choice but have to get Hays Travel to agree and return my money or arrange for a trip in Oct maybe. It’s all in the travel agents hands also Emirates too. Hays are ABTA member and the latest advice from government is travel only if it’s essential, well our holiday isn’t. All our booked flights are operational and scheduled for our dates but anything can happen.

I always found Hays Warrington good people to deal with.
Hope it all works out well for you.

We booked back up flights the Monday after it all started. We paid a bit extra for flights we could cancel for no charge up to 72 hours before departure. I have now cancelled the original flights via Doha. Glad I moved quickly as same flights would now be £6,500 for two of us, and that is just economy!

Emirates are offering full refunds on flights up to 31st March. Your travel agent should be able to cancel. But unlikely to get reasonably priced replacement flights now.
