Only 12 days until we head off to Japan, rescheduled after cancellation due to military action in West Asia back in May.

This time we're going via Istanbul instead of Dubai.

I'm getting quite excited about it now.

It's a fully escorted tour so we'll always have an English speaking guide with us. I'm grateful for that because I've found even basic phrases in Japanese to be rather difficult.

Anyone else done this?

Not done an organised group but did a solo organised walk with booked accommodation (and meals) each night. They are very helpful lot and will do their best to ensure a visitor is not inconvenienced. The other thing is that in the wall of information that's in front of you there will be detailed instructions in English about what to do. You just have to look for it or wait until someone comes up and show you what to do. They usually do. Marvellous lot.

Also if you intend to go out on your own to visit places, then download this app. It has good guides to transport plus background. Also have cash. App will show you where the ATM's are if you run out of cash.

Just booked a week in New York in December for the four of us. Nice apartment in Jersey City. Really looking forward to it.

Holidays this year have been going to daughter dearests new house in Fife and spending two weeks doing hard labour trying to get up to scratch. Spent today moving about 100 plus concrete blocks which weigh about 40lbs each. This is our third trip.
Last year was a week in Tuscany and 3 weeks in the Alps.
