Walked that in summer 2022 with my wife and son and daughter. We camped either wild or on sites such as in Champex. Great route and gets quiet once you leave the TMB behind. My wife and I did it first in 1991 and were amazed by the changes to glaciers this last time round. That’s us in 91 and the same glacier in 2022 where we camped overnight this time! Enjoy!

Gosh.

I've heard it's happened to other glaciers. Does anyone know what's causing this?

I am (only) thinking of a 10 night in the Balearics around late March/early April.
As some will know my wife died 3+years ago and Long Covid knocked me for a 6 so this needs some cogitation.
My daughter and SiL want me to go with them but I have this itch to scratch.
I'm searching for somewhere quiet but strolling distance of bars and restaurants.
Thinking is adults only but a load of kids might be good for me....decisions decisions

I'd recommend this place, a few of us stayed when we had a friends 50th Bday trip - quite simple but lovely, punching well above its price point - 5 mins stroll into town and very peaceful. ask for ground floor room if you dont want lots of steps.

quite easy to DIY, a taxi from the airport is about E50 each way.
Pegura is quiet-ish, quiet a few german tourist, scarce on rowdy brits, and lots of restaurants.
Local buses to Palma (approx 1hr) or the other way to Andratx etc

We should have been in Majorca at this moment.
We then thought a staycation maybe July/August.
Now we have thrown it into the lap of the gods.
How are your holiday plans or wishes?
Sorry about Majorca, that's rotten luck. Honestly I'm keeping it flexible and going for refundable bookings only, so there's nothing to lose if plans change again.

If a staycation ends up being the plan, a few days somewhere with good walking and nice food can feel like a proper break. My wish list for later is a slow trip around the Mediterranean, with a few lazy beach days, a couple of old towns, and nothing too rushed.

Where were you staying in Majorca? Hopefully you can rebook for next year.

You should look at the date of posts you are replying to

That one was from May 2020, so during Lockdown.
